If you’ve been thinking about popping the question to your partner, it’s likely that you’re trying to think of ways to do it in a romantic style. Even if you don’t usually enjoy the lovey-dovey stuff, you know that your proposal has to be special as you’ll both remember it for your lifetime. What better way to do this than by getting engaged abroad?!
You can ask your partner’s friend to help you pack their bag, and then surprise them with a trip - only telling them where you’re going when you get to the airport.
Once you arrive at your destination, you’ll treat them to a wonderful experience, before proposing to them and hoping they’ll say yes.
Surely they won’t be able to refuse you in such a gorgeous place! Here are four tips to make sure you get it right.
Tip #1: Visit Somewhere You Went Together
The first suggestion is to whisk your partner away to somewhere you have both been before and loved. Everyone has their own opinion about what makes a place romantic; you might like the gondolas in Venice, or you might like a cocktail bar overlooking the sea in Ibiza. This is your chance to make your proposal really personal, and special.
Tip #2: Choose a Luxury Hotel
If you’re feeling nervous about asking your partner to marry you, you’ll want to make sure everything goes smoothly beforehand so you can keep your stress levels to a minimum. All it takes is a bit of research to ensure that you get the right hotel. Look at independent review sites for feedback from previous guests or check sites like On-Holiday-Claims to make sure that the hotel you’re looking at hasn’t made it onto any holiday illness hotspots list. The last thing you want is for you and your partner to be confined to the bed!
Tip #3: Make Reservations at a Good Restaurant
If you’re anything like me, you get grumpy when you’re hungry. Save your moods for another time; this is supposed to be a special occasion! Use the research you have done and book a table at a leading restaurant in the area. Your partner will be impressed with the plans you’ve made, and you won’t have to walk around endlessly until you find somewhere that looks half decent. You won’t want your proposal story ending in “and then we ate dinner in the worst restaurant ever” so think ahead!
Tip #4: Don’t Forget to Pack the Essentials!
